Sheaby, Maybe

25. I think about going back to Australia every day. Every Day. And if I have to borrow the $2k to do it, I’ll do it. And this year.

Hm. My circle of friends is so dynamic, it scares me. People I haven’t thought about in ages turn out to be really close and important in just one moment.

The other day, my friend Shea literally drove within twenty minutes of where I live. So did my friends Alethea and Frank, but as they live here, it’s slightly less impressive. Shea does not. Shea lives in Pennsylvania and decided to come down to New Mexico for her spring break. Naturally, you would conclude that we would have gotten together and danced the night away.

Unfortunately, her phone died and we didn’t get to see each other. She drove spectacularly close to me without being able to contact me. It saddened me when it happened, as Shea is awesome, but I’m even sadder now as I just got off the phone with her. ((She has the tendency to call me at 5 in the morning. To this day, I’ve always been awake when she calls. It’s amusing to me.)) We talked for a while and made a deal to see each other within the next six months. Which is a deal I wish I could make with all of my friends.

Shea is a great friend and it breaks my heart that we didn’t get to see each other. But at least I have some good friends here, right? Now let’s see what thoughtful thing my friend Frank recently said that I could juxtapose here:

“Pixel, I’m your friend. You don’t have to worry about not having a place to stay whenever you’re here. You’re completely free to sleep in your car. But not in my property, of course, you’d have to take your car outside of it. And not just outside: take it to a public place. In fact, you might want to go there now. I’m serious. Right Now. Or I’m calling the cops.”
